New York City Penthouse Makes the Most of Its Walls

Turett Collaborative Architects has transformed a garage into a modern four-floor penthouse, demonstrating what can be done with minimal space to play with.

The penthouse in Greenwich Village, NYC, uses a minimalist natural palette with a few key design accents that elevate the scheme to ‘inspired’.

Exposed brick walls are a recurring motif throughout the house, which are a really nice callback to the building’s past, as well as tapping into such a current design trend. They add some gorgeous texture and warmth when framed with sleek white, and help to bring the outside environment in (which is accentuated by the expansive windows).

Wood is another material well-used within the design - the building’s original timber beams have been recycled for the staircase in the hallway, which mixes manufactured wooden tiles and furniture with a striking branch installation.

Other key elements that complete this design include the fun garden and koi pond on the second floor, and the stunning colourful wall art that complements the exposed brick perfectly.
