A little of New York City has been brought to a home/office in Fitzrovia, creating a relaxing and creative space for its owner, a freelance photographer.

The Fitzrovia Mews house has been transformed from an old office with no personality to a spacious and modern new home, thanks to architect and designer Thomas Griem.

Shades of creamy ivories, rich browns, and warm greys inform a natural and neutral palette, providing a sumptuous softness, with furnishings luxurious to the touch combined with exposed, textured wood.

This sophisticated combination creates the perfect environment for bright bursts of bolder colour, such as the blue mid-century chair and green sideboard in the lounge, giving the room a shot of fun as well as sleek design features.

The walls are kept plain, but certainly not boring, covered in the owner’s photographic work and a ‘distressed’ USA flag. Not only do these add conversation points, they carry through the strong angles and lines that define this expansive space.

Exposed brick slips and metal framing contribute a subtle sense of industrial chic and a nice contrasting texture, rounding off a personal, spacious design, which you can see in more detail here.
